Visit Portland, Oregon
Portland, officially the weirdest city in the United States, was interesting to visit. Although the people are friendly as with the majority of the West Coast, the city was filled with less healthy food and donuts, stoned homeless living in tents everywhere, and weird people. The cost of living can be high but not everywhere, prices for most goods, especially parking, were reasonable as the city is relatively small. It is definitely recommended to rent a car while visiting to drive to the scenic waterfalls, beaches, Crater Lake National Park, and smaller towns. Portland itself is small and many activities can be done in a short period of time and distance as well. The city recycles 66% of waste, the highest percentage in the US. When visiting Blue Star or Voodoo donut shops, be sure to have ample time to wait in the long lines or come early. Blue Star is a premium shop, open until all the donuts are sold out. Voodoo is open 24 hours and empty early in the morning. Take a walk through the giant parks inside the city so experience nature like never before.
